Hey you,
Before saying YES to a meeting, YES to a project, YES to a person, YES to something I really seriously want in life, I ask myself a few questions:
- Will doing this make me feel more like myself?
- Will doing it allow me to learn and grow and make progress?
- Does the day-to-day of doing this light me up and tap into my natural strengths?
- Am I willing to work through any challenge or obstacle that arises in the face of doing this?
- Does doing this have the potential to move, touch and inspire others?
- Do I feel in full alignment and integrity around doing this?
Having these questions as a guide, I can be thoughtful and discerning about where I choose to exert my energy and resources. I can easily distinguish between a “Yeahhhh… that could be cool” and a “OH. WOW. MUST. DO. THAT” kind of Yes.
These questions helped me say “I will marry you” to my fiancé. They inspired me to pause on the traditional book publishing route to create something that felt more “me.” They guided me to end relationships, partnerships and engagements that felt out of alignment with who I am.
These questions bring me home. And home is where I want to be.
